5 things to do to aid a good night’s sleep

Get up on the right side of the bed tomorrow!

Sis, you’ve been burning the candle both ends and you’re confused as to why your concentration is lapsing and your levels of procrastination are through the roof. It’s okay, we’re not judging, we know how it gets when you’re trying to smash your goals and maintain a stellar social life.

After you’ve had a good night’s sleep, you feel like you’ve unlocked your inner divine goddess and you can conquer the world. Regular high-quality sleep is essential for your productivity, body goals, skin health and mental health.

So apart from the obvious, which is to avoid drinking excessive amounts of caffeine.  Here is a list of 5 things you can use or do, to get a sound night’s sleep. After all, who wants to wake up cranky!

#1 Take A Hot Bath With Clary Sage Essential Oil

You can use an assortment of essential oils during your bath, but whatever you do make sure Clary Sage is on the list. Clary Sage is the ultimate oil for women’s health issues. It is known to provide clarity of mind, decrease bloating, and reduce stress. It also has the powerful ability to rejuvenate our endocrine system*. Before bed is a perfect time to press the reset button.

#2 Sleep En La Nude

Sleeping in your birthday suit is another fantastic way to get a great night’s sleep. Not only does it feel great against the sheets, but lowering your body temperature just before you lay down to sleep has been known to help you to fall asleep quicker.

#3 Touch Your Body

Yes, you read that correctly. Gifting yourself an orgasm before you get some shut-eye can also increase the quality of your sleep. The release of oxytocin also known as “feel-good hormones” aid in relaxing your body before you get some shut-eye. The endorphins released can also help boost your level of estrogen levels, and enhance your REM levels.

#4 Read Before Bed

Stop scrolling… No seriously, stop scrolling. Put your phone away well ahead of bedtime. The lights from your phone or any other device for that matter work to keep you more alert and more awake. Opt to read before bed instead, whether it’s fiction, non-fiction or even your favourite magazine. Just grab something that’s going to slow you down. If you really don’t want you can also pop on a soothing audiobook or podcast (with the sleep timer so it’s not playing all night). Give yourself an opportunity to slow your mind down and unwind.

#5 Black Out

It sounds so obvious, but sometimes we can overlook the simplest things to get a better night’s sleep. Whether you invest in blackout blinds or a sleeping mask. Find a way to reduce any lights you could potentially see throughout the night. With all of our gadgets, it’s even easier to accidentally miss something. Yes, even the little red standby light on your television.

You want to sleep in complete darkness – so do whatever is required to make your sleeping environment pitch black.

In this world where we are securing all of the bags and manifesting the lives of our dreams, it’s important to remember to take care of ourselves. We must check-in with ourselves, make sure we are getting our beauty sleep and maintaining a healthy night-time regimen.

What sleep secrets would you pass on to your fellow kin-folk?
